Taxonomy: Newtonia archboldi Delacour and Berlioz, 1931, Tabiky, south-west Madagascar.
Genus may belong with the vangas in family Vangidae; retained in present family pending further study. Monotypic.
Distribution: SW & S Madagascar, from S of Morondava S within narrow band (c. 100 km) along coast to W of Fort Dauphin.
