Taxonomy: Serinus rothschildi Ogilvie-Grant, 1902, Ichaf Ravine, Hamérah and Dthubiyât, upper Haushabi, Yemen.
Previously considered conspecific with S. atrogularis, but such as relationship now thought unlikely. Monotypic.
Distribution: CW & SW Saudi Arabia and W Yemen.
