Old World Warblers (Sylviidae)
Alström's Warbler (Seicercus soror) - HBW 11, p. 677
French: Pouillot soeur
German: Thailaubsänger
Spanish: Mosquitero Soror
Other common names: Plain-tailed Warbler
Taxonomy: Seicercus soror Alström and Olsson, 1999, Hopiachen, Sichuan, China.
Recently described species, formerly treated as part of S. burkii, but differing in morphology, vocalizations and mitochondrial DNA. Almost simultaneously, likewise separated as a distinct species by other workers using the name “S. latouchei”; that name is, however, not applicable to populations of present species, but rather to populations clearly belonging within S. valentini. Monotypic.
Distribution: Breeds in EC & SE China (Shaanxi, SE Sichuan, Guizhou, Fujian); non-breeding SE Asia.
