Original HBW caption:
The Tricoloured Parrotfinch is restricted to the Timor and Wetar and Banda Sea Islands Endemic Bird Areas. It is locally common on Timor, and a 2008 survey of the island of Wetar found that it occurred widely there, but at low densities. Logging is seen as the prime threat to habitats on these islands. In 2001, an expedition to Damar Island in the Banda Sea found that the Tricoloured Parrotfinch was one of six forestdependent species to have been extirpated as a result of the modification of primary forest by smallscale “garden” agriculture.
