A rare visitor to Japan, this Siberian crane had one juvenile with her and it was the first time in over 40 years that a parent bird and offspring had visited Japan. It was a great privilege to see this bird! Arasaki has around 10,000 Hooded Cranes, 2,000 White Naped Cranes and a handful of occasional visitors such as Common Crane, Sandhill Crane (I saw both of those species there in 2008) and this year, the rarest, the Siberian Crane.
