Place: Vinicio Adames Park, Caracas, north-central Venezuela.
Hilty and other authors are of the view that there are differences, mainly in voice, between this flycatcher and Rough-legged Tyrannulet (Phyllomyias burmeisteri) that justify separating them into two species, but Restall and other authors consider that the available data is insufficient, so that they include it in the said Phyllomyias burmeisteri species as the P. b. viridiceps subspecies.
