The taxonomy of this bird is confusing and controversial. There is no clear definition of what species it is. It is known in Colombia through ornithologists as an Orange-backed Oriole (Icterus jamacaii) (Stilty & Brown - "A Guide to the Birds of Colombia") but is known by other scientific names Icterus croconotus. There is no consistent identification here. If someone has knowledge of a stronger camp of opinion as to the identification of this bird could you please let me know.
