Species endemic to the Indian Subcontinent (India, Nepal & Pakistan). Most of the display area of this monsoon breeding visitor lies in the grazing lands of Kutch. The status of the habitat where these images were taken on 17 th Aug 2009 and on 22 nd Aug 2009, is now that over 5000 Acres of land (1250 hectares) are illegally encroached and converted to agricultural fields by locals. The habitat of other species of birds including the Indian Bustard and MacQueen's Bustard is also greatly affected.
