Lanner breeds in Africa, southeast Europe and just into Asia, most African subspecies are a paler blue grey above, differently to the Saker Falcon, Lanner has a reddish back to the head. This picture was taken just about 20 km outside of Addis Ababa on a mountain plain of about 2900m above sea level.
