This species is a winter migrant to the foothills of the Nilgiris from up north and is usually seen below the altitude of 1000 meters. It was strange to see this bird at an altitude of 2200 meters. The bird was unable to fly and seemed to be suffering from hypothermia. The bird was captured and taken to a recovery center in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.
