A very impressive owl found in low density across its range.
There are not many videos/photographs of this species taken in the wild as it is a difficult bird to find.
We were lucky in that we had an excellent view of this roosting bird which afforded good photographic opportunities. Unfortunately I blew my chance of good images through my own stupidity. We had the air-conditioning in our vehicle turned on high >as soon as I left the vehicle with my "chilled" camera gear the humid jungle air condensed on the lens and all the images were badly misted (it took three hours to de-mist the lens and by that time it was nightfall and the owl had gone!) This is the best image of the bunch cleaned up in photoshop.
This was a sore lesson and I will probably never see this bird in the wild again! So remember, when in warm humid climates keep the video/camera gear at ambient temperatures! :-)
