White-fronted Manakin

This species has a fairly small range, encompassing extreme SE Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana and a N Brazil. There it occurs in humid forest and forest edge, to 500 m. I've only seen this species on the Brownsberg, where it is common. It is said to be very common in interior French Guiana, so I presume it will be the same for a large part of interior Suriname, although it is rather contradictory called locally common throughout it's range. In Brownsberg, the males sing all day, and I've seen them almost invariably in small congregations, with 4-5 males stretching in a lek over an area of appr. 60 m2., with several females passing through. There are six videos on the White-fronted Manakin page.
