Video embedding!
Now IBC videos can be embedded in other related websites, making these sites more attractive while also increasing the diffusion of videos posted on the IBC. We think that this will be very positive for the websites of Conservation and other bird-related institutions, but contributors can also embed IBC videos in their own blogs or websites. This can improve their own site, for example, making a discussion about birds more illustrated, and help promote the IBC. Those contributors with their own personal websites can embed their own videos on their site without occupying any memory. This means that the contributor maintains the considerable audience of the IBC and helps the IBC to grow as a useful tool at the same time as improving their own site easily and efficiently.
The embedding functionality is only available for registered members. On the video page, you will see a new button called "Embed this video". Just click on it and follow the instructions. Here you will also find some logical restrictions that we ask everyone to abide by in order to make this option compatible with the goals of the IBC.
Let us know if you are using this option and we will list your website or blog here, which can also help promote your site. For example, check out a couple of videos embedded in the following page: http://www.lynxeds.com/product/bowerbirds-nature-art-history
Update: Don Desjardin is also embedding videos! http://birdsdesjardin.com/video.html
Ciro Albano is using the embedding functionality too! http://www.nebrazilbirding.com/photos-videos
Update 2: We are very pleased with the results of this feature! Now a greater number of sites are using IBC videos, which means that more people are discovering the IBC and will hopefully contribute and help it to grow. Check this site as an example: http://www.vietnambirding.com/videos.aspx
