We are happy to announce a new feature that will speed up the searches on the IBC. When searching for a species that only has one matching result, you will be redirected to that page automatically, without needing an extra click. Remember that you can search using three letters (minimum) for the genus plus three letters (minimum) for the species, as explained on the Search Help page.

Good news for Spanish, French and German speakers!
Since the IBC contains some information from the Handbook of the Birds of the World series, we have the Spanish, French and German names of the species, too! It might be useful for people who better know the names of species in one of these languages to use them in their searches rather than using the species' scientific or English names. To do so, you will just need to type a two-letter prefix and a space before the species' name in the Species Search box. The prefixes are "es" for Spanish, "fr" for French and "ge" for German.
Here are some examples:

es halcon: This will show you all of the species that match "halcon" in the Spanish name.
es avestruz: This will directly forward you to the species page, as only one species matches this search.
fr canard: This will show you all of the species that match "canard" in the French name.
fr mesange bleue: This will directly forward you to the species page, as only one species matches this search.
ge drossel: This will show you all of the species that match "drossel" in the German name.
ge kiebitz: This will directly forward you to the species page, as only one species matches this search.

Hablas español? Felicidades!
Como sabrás, en la IBC se ofrece información provinente del Handbook of the Birds of the World, incluidos los nombres comunes en español que se muestran en las páginas de cada especie. A partir de ahora, podrás usar dichos nombres en tus búsquedas. Para ello solo tienes que escribir en la casilla Species Search el prefijo "es" seguido de un espacio antes de la palabra que buscas, por ejemplo:
