Damar Island
This small island is renowned ornithologically as it is the home of the Damar Flycatcher, a smart bird found nowhere else in the world. Of course, this species was the main target on our visit to Damar during our Banda Sea expedition, but there we also got the first videos for the IBC of Wallacean Whistler and Northern Fantail, the latter at the nest. We found as well the distinct race xanthogaster of the Rose-crowned Fruit-dove, another likely split to be known as Silver-crowned Fruit-dove, and materials of more widespread species, including several first sound recordings for the IBC.
